Good Night USM!

USM is committed to creating a campus environment that is more inclusive, accessible and supportive for all. ♿✨

From physical facilities to practical features that support daily movement and access, these efforts reflect the university’s continued commitment to ensuring that persons with disabilities can navigate campus life with greater ease, dignity and comfort.

Accessibility is not an extra. It matters.

USM’s School of Social Sciences recently hosted Academic Seminar Series 2/2026, bringing timely geopolitical questions into focus through a discussion on how the Global South is responding to shifts in the current world order.

Delivered by Professor Yves Tiberghien, Dean of the Taipei School of Economics and Political Science, National Tsing Hua University, the seminar explored “hedging” as a strategic approach taken by developing nations to navigate uncertainty, manage risk and preserve strategic autonomy amid major power competition.

Working from home is no longer just a temporary adjustment. In the face of growing global energy uncertainty, it is increasingly seen as a strategic response with wider economic and social implications.

Insights from two USM scholars highlight that this policy should be understood within a broader context involving productivity, digital readiness, workplace culture and national resilience.

When shaped by evidence and adapted to local realities, a more flexible work model can become part of the response to today’s evolving challenges.
