and Community Engagement Through Coastal 
and Fisheries Programme in Penang

USM PENANG, 2 June 2026 – The School of Biological Sciences (PPSKH), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), in collaboration with Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Indonesia, successfully organised a five-day Research Collaboration and Community Service (CSR) Programme from 18 to 22 May 2026 involving coastal research activities, laboratory-based learning, and community engagement in southern Penang.

HBP Visit to Taiwan: Enhancing International Exposure 
and Academic Collaboration in Interior Architecture

USM PENANG, 1 June 2026 – It was an eye-opening trip for the Interior Architecture students of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) when they had the opportunity to visit Taiwan and experience first-hand the country’s rich architectural and cultural landscape.   The Interior Architecture Programme, School of Housing, Building and Planning (HBP), USM, recently conducted this international academic visit involving third-year Interior Architecture students.

USM PENANG, 1 June 2026 – Students and representatives from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) once again demonstrated their commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement through active participation in the Trip 4 Trees Mangrove Planting Programme held at the Hutan Paya Laut (Petak Arboretum) in Balik Pulau.

to Gold Medal Award at INVENTA 2026

USM PENANG, 1 June 2026 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) continues to reinforce its global standing in sustainable innovation and impactful research. Recently on 25 May 2026, Wong Min Wei, an undergraduate from the Building Surveying programme at the School of Housing, Building and Planning (HBP), distinguished herself by securing the prestigious Gold Medal Award at INVENTA 2026, the International Exhibition of Novel Ventures, Engineering, New Technology & Applications.

The USM 32nd Chess Individual Open Tournament 2026 gathered 230 participants at Dewan Utama Pelajar, USM, celebrating strategy, focus and the spirit of mind sports.


Congratulations to all winners and participants.

RINTIS Seni 2026 marked a vibrant celebration of creativity, expression and artistic growth at the School of the Arts, Universiti Sains Malaysia.


Bringing together final-year works from Fine Arts, Acting and Directing, and Music, the programme served as a platform for young talents to showcase their ideas, creative journeys and artistic potential.
