📰 USM Students Aim for Top Five in International Rocket Engineering Competition

Summary:


BUKIT MERTAJAM, 11 April — A team of 10 Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) students, known as WAU Rocketry, will represent Malaysia at the International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC 2026), which will be held in Texas, the United States, this June, with their sights set on a top-five finish.


According to Bernama, the competition is regarded as one of the largest university-level rocket competitions in the world, bringing together student teams from across the globe to design, build and launch rockets.


The USM team will compete alongside another team from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
