839 PROSPECTIVE PILGRIMS ATTEND PREMIER HAJJ COURSE IN USM PENANG

USM PENANG, 5 April 2026 – A total of 839 prospective pilgrims from across Penang gathered to participate in the Premier Hajj Course (Kursus Perdana Haji, KPH) at the state level for the 1447H/2026M season.

The two-day programme was held at Masjid Al-Malik Khalid, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), from 4 to 5 April 2026.

The programme, organised by Lembaga Tabung Haji, was officiated by the Deputy Chief Minister I of Penang, YB Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abdul Hamid, reflecting the state government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that pilgrims are well-prepared before departing for the Holy Land.

“The state government remains steadfast in supporting initiatives that prepare our pilgrims comprehensively, ensuring they embark on their spiritual journey with confidence and peace of mind,” said Mohamad.

Throughout the course, participants were exposed to various sessions covering theoretical aspects, practical guidance, and simulated hajj rituals to enhance their understanding and confidence in performing the fifth pillar of Islam.

According to Tabung Haji, this course is designed not only to impart knowledge but also to instill calmness and readiness in every pilgrim as they fulfill this sacred obligation.  

It emphasised its commitment to continuously guiding prospective pilgrims so that they are well-prepared in terms of knowledge, physical readiness, and spiritual strength.

“We are committed to walking alongside our pilgrims, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge, physical preparation, and spiritual resilience,” said the Tabung Haji representative.

Meanwhile, USM reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with Lembaga Tabung Haji in organising courses related to this pillar of Islam, including providing conducive facilities and logistical support, in line with efforts to strengthen understanding and readiness among pilgrims.

“USM is honoured to contribute to this noble cause by providing facilities and support that foster a conducive learning environment for our pilgrims,” said a USM spokesperson.

The organisation of this course is hoped to help pilgrims perform the hajj with greater confidence, order, and perfection, ultimately attaining a mabrur hajj.

“We hope every participant will benefit from this programme and return with a hajj that is mabrur,” added the Tabung Haji representative.

At the same time, the university leadership and community prayed for all pilgrims to have their affairs eased and to return home safely and blessed.

“Our prayers are with all pilgrims, that their journey is smooth, their hajj accepted, and their return filled with blessings,” expressed the USM leadership.
