USM WINS SPECIAL IPT AWARD AT NATIONAL ENERGY AWARDS 2024

BAYAN LEPAS, March 17 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has been recognized for its leadership in energy sustainability, receiving the Special Higher Education Institution (IPT) Award at the National Energy Awards 2024 (NEA 2024).

The accolade honors USM’s ‘Advancing Sustainability with Solar@USM’ project, a collaboration between its Facilities Management Department (JPPF), Industry and Community Network Division (BJIM), and Centre for Global Sustainability Studies (CGSS). The initiative reinforces USM’s commitment to solar energy adoption in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The award was presented by Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, as part of Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), targeting 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050.
