USM AND UWC BERHAD STRENGTHEN ACADEMIA-INDUSTRY COLLABORATION THROUGH STRATEGIC MOU
NIBONG TEBAL, 4 March 2025 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and UWC Berhad today formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the School of Aerospace Engineering, marking a significant step towards fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
In her opening remarks, the Director of the USM Engineering Campus, Professor Ir. Dr Mariatti Jaafar @ Mustapha, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration and emphasised the University's commitment to bridging the gap between both parties.

“This partnership is an important step in fostering collaboration between us, paving the way for innovation, knowledge sharing and meaningful opportunities for our students and researchers,” she said.
“At the USM Engineering Campus, we believe that strong industry links are key to equipping our graduates with the skills and experience needed for the evolving global landscape,” said Mariatti.

“This MoU embodies our shared commitment to excellence and mutual growth to foster a promising collaboration with UWC Berhad to achieve success and make meaningful contributions to both institutions and society,” she said.
Meanwhile, UWC Berhad's Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Ng Sze Yen, highlighted the importance of the agreement in achieving UWC's goal of developing industry-ready talent.
“This MoU is essential in supporting UWC's goal to produce 500 future talent within the next two years, particularly in the semiconductor sector,” said Ng.
“We hope that this collaboration will promote both knowledge sharing and the exchange of UWC's cutting-edge technology, paving the way for both USM as well as UWC to grow together through this partnership,” she added.
