USM-WU AIM TO FURTHER STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIP IN ACADEMICS AND RESEARCH
USM PENANG, 16 May 2024 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) through the School of Distance Education (SDE) aims to strengthen relationship with Walailak University (WU), Thailand in academics and research following a number of visits between the two institutions.
According to SDE Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation, Industry-Community Engagement in representing the Dean, Associate Professor Dr. See Kok Fong, the collaboration will focus on joint research and supervision, mobility programmes and other collaborations that will bring mutual benefits such as the organisation of seminars and lectures.
He said this in his opening speech to welcome eight lecturers who were on a visit from the WU School of Accountancy and Finance (SAFE), led by Dr. Kanokwan Meesook.
In addition, the delegates were given a brief introduction to the SDE lecturers in Finance as they get to know each other and hold discussions regarding their field of expertise.
Among those from SDE who were involved included Dr. Zarina Md. Nor, who presented on her experience in organising the Mobility Programme with Tasmania University, Australia; Dr. Siti Haslina Md Harizan who presented on the Microcredential Programme; and Dr. Foong Swee Sim who shared potential collaboration opportunities in Accounting and Finance.
Also present was Dr. Trairong Swatdikun, who is currently collaborating with the Dean of SDE.
