USM WINS BEST CONTINGENT (PUBLIC CATEGORY) AT STATE MAULIDUR RASUL CELEBRATION

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) was awarded Best Contingent in the Public Category at the Penang State Maulidur Rasul Celebration 1448H/2026M, held today at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jawi (SMK Jawi).

The recognition reflects the strong spirit of unity and commitment among USM staff in commemorating Maulidur Rasul, while proudly representing the university at the state level with meaningful participation that embodies the values of Prophet Muhammad.

USM’s contingent, comprising 30 staff members from the Main Campus and Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Engineering Campus, joined the parade alongside 43 contingents from various departments and institutions, including 11 contingents under the NGO/Private/Public University category.

The parade was led by Senior Assistant Registrar of the School of Social Sciences, Fikri Ali Yasah, with overall coordination by Psychology Officer, Nur Amirah Asyikin Hasmizar, who served as the USM Contingent Coordinator.

Amirah emphasised that USM’s involvement was not simply about competing, but about expressing love and respect for Prophet Muhammad and embracing his noble teachings and character.

“This victory is more than just an achievement; it symbolises the unity of USM staff in upholding Islamic values and deepening our love for the Prophet. What matters most is how this spirit was brought to life through the active participation and togetherness of the university community in an event rich with spiritual and humanitarian values,” she said.

She added that the participation of USM staff reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to strengthening spiritual values, fostering unity, and cultivating noble character among its community.

The contingent also received support from the Staff Relations and Well Being Unit as well as the Administration and Finance Unit, Human Resource Division, Registrar’s Department, ensuring smooth coordination and participation.

USM Registrar, Mohd Azizudin Mohd Shariff, extended his appreciation and congratulations to all staff who represented the university at the state level celebration. He noted that the achievement further enhances USM’s image not only as a higher education institution, but also as a community that upholds spiritual values, unity, and noble character in everyday life.
