Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), through the Division of Industry and Community Network (BJIM), formalised a strategic collaboration with Ventrex Outdoor Recreation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in conjunction with the COMPASSION Beyond 2030 Strategic Roundtable Discussion at USM@KL recently.

The partnership supports the development of K4C@COMPASSION, an initiative under the Community Network Office, BJIM that promotes Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), mentoring, capacity-building, and long-term community engagement.

USM was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Industry and Community Network, Professor Dato’ Dr. Azlan Amran; together with Director of the USM Community Network Office, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Izzuddin Syakir; and Deputy Registrar of BJIM, Mohd Faizal Md Osman.

Also present were K4C@COMPASSION mentors Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asyirah Abdul Rahim, Dr. Fatehah Mohd Omar, and Nur Syazwana Hamzah, while Ventrex was represented by Mohd Fadly Md Noor.

The MoU will facilitate collaboration in research and development, academic programmes, workshops, training, student and staff exchange, and other mutually agreed initiatives.

The partnership also reinforces USM’s commitment towards establishing collaborations with NGOs and community partners for the SDGs, including through student volunteering programmes, research programmes, and the development of educational resources.

Through K4C@COMPASSION, USM aims to strengthen the co-creation of knowledge and knowledge sharing between academia and the community while promoting more sustainable, inclusive, and impactful initiatives.
