USM, PENANG, 21 June 2018 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail received a courtesy call from the delegates of the College of Social Sciences, University of Glasgow (UoG), UK recently.

The 5-member delegation was led by the Vice-Principal and Head of College, Professor Anne Anderson, which also included Dr. Clare McManus [Senior Lecturer, Central and East European Studies]; Dr. Ramona Blanes [Lecturer, International Business and Services (Management)]; Dr. Don MacLeod [Senior Lecturer, Interdisciplinary Studies] and Angela Malley [International Development Manager].

Discussion between both institutions dwelled mainly on existing academic collaborations and potential collaborations in Business Studies, Tourism, Urban Studies, Healthcare and Medical Studies, and Archaeotourism.

USM’s Graduate School of Business (GSB) and UoG’s Adam Smith Business School have embarked on a collaboration to offer the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Double Degree programme which will have its first intake in September 2018, as part of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed in January 2018 between both parties.

“By studying one year in USM and another year in UoG, we hope the students would be inculcated with the business culture in Europe and South East Asia, hence giving them the extra edge to be more competitive globally in the business world," said Asma.
