MALAYSIA’S MOOC IS THE WORLD'S FIRST NATIONALLY COORDINATED ONLINE LEARNING INITIATIVE
NILAI, 26 September 2017 – The Malaysian Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is the world's first nationally coordinated online learning initiative since it was introduced in September 2015.
"There are over 250 MOOCs offered by private and public universities and colleges with a total of 220,000 students from 170 countries in 2016," said the Minister of Higher Education Malaysia, Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh at the launching of the International University Carnival on E-learning 2017 (IUCEL) 2017, held here at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).
This 2nd IUCEL sees the participation of more than 180 exhibitors from local and international researchers, students and individuals.
IUCEL 2017 is organised by USIM, in collaboration with the Malaysian E-Learning Council for Public Universities (MEIPTA), and supported by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia.
11 e-learning projects from USM participated in IUCEL 2017 and also in the Invention, Innovation & Design on e-learning (IIDEL) competition.
Some of the projects involved are Flip Mathematics Education (Flip ME), Multimedia Breastfeeding Education Kit: An Innovative Approach in Delivering Knowledge and Transforming Stressful to Joyful Classroom via Web 2.0 Application.
Also present at the launching of IUCEL 2017 were USIM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Dr. Musa Ahmad and Chairman of IUCEL 2017, Professor Dr. Rozhan M. Idrus.
