3 Aug 2017 - Fatin Nurfatehah Mat Salleh, the outstanding Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) athlete in women’s archery has once again made the university proud for being selected to represent the country at the World University Games (UNIVERSIADE) 2017, to be held from 19th until 30th August 2017 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Fatin, 25, who hails from Sabah, is a Master’s candidate in Sports Science from the USM School of Medical Sciences and has made a name for the country in numerous archery competitions at the local and international levels.
Throughout her involvement in archery, Fatin has won medals at various world championship events, such as the Women’s Compound at the Asia University Archery Championship (1 gold), World Cup Archery Championship 2015 (1 gold - team), Asia Cup Archery Championship 2015 (1 silver - team and 1 bronze - individual), ASEAN Archery Championship 2015 (1 bronze - team) and the 28th SEA Games in Singapore (3 gold - individual, team and mixed).
The USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail along with the USM top management officials and the entire USM community all expressed their feeling of pride on the selection and hope that Fatin will excel in her performance and again make the nation proud in the upcoming world championships.
The Ministry of Higher Education Malaysian has selected 61 athletes and 29 officers to be in the Malaysian contingent for the upcoming Taipei Summer Universiade 2017.
