USM, PENANG, 7 December 2016 – The International Conference on Sustainable Development Goals (ICSDG2016) serves as a platform on the sharing and exchange of ideas, opinions, recommendations and solutions, to benefit all of us and to ensure that we could strive for a better-managed and more prosperous world.
This was said by the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Dato' Dr. Muhamad Jantan in representing the Vice-Chancellor during the ICSDG2016 dinner.
Muhamad urged for all to move forward in their respective fields so that the efforts will not simply cease around presentations and journal-writings only, but should encompass finding practical solutions for the betterment of mankind, although the ‘construction’ of a sustainable region is one long journey to be encountered.
"All this requires commitment, dedication and cooperation from all of us, therefore, let us work together and move forward to become successful global players in sustainability," he said.
He added, we are truly grateful to the SEASN committee members, who have successfully concluded the 4th Board Meeting and many things were discussed, and we are optimistic that SEASN will be able to shine in improving the quality of life in the ASEAN region, as well as to create a healthy competition with developed countries in Europe to establish a sustainable region.
"Therefore, the citizens of ASEAN especially those who were present for the past two days, should work together and help to deliver the much-needed drive to succeed," he told.
Muhamad also took the opportunity to convey his appreciation and gratitude to the committee members who have worked hard in preparing for this occasion and hope that this event would further strengthen the relationship with those from other countries.
Also present were the Secretary-General of SEASN and Director of USM Centre for Global Sustainable Studies (CGSS), Professor Dr. Kamarulazizi Ibrahim.
