USM, PENANG, 4 October 2016 – The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail is steadfast in ensuring that USM would be able to implement the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015 – 2025 (Higher Education) or PPPM (PT) and the Accelerated Programme for Excellence (APEX) agenda by providing the whole campus community with an understanding of the aspiration.

“We need to change and realise all the efforts that we have planned, in relation to country and the world, to become the best leaders by involving the whole community and to work together with other parties; we need to move out and to develop in a cooperative manner, to acquire new experiences, establish new networks and move swiftly in a world that requires swiftness in making decisions and obtaining facts,” said Asma.

She further added, this is a university that we collectively-owned and therefore we need to move ahead together by enhancing the available strength to succeed, and not merely to give instructions but to strive and support each other in achieving the aspiration we have so desired.

“I believe that we have all the strength and expertise required to successfully move forward,” said Asma.

She said this in a meeting with the USM Heads of Departments. Prior to this, Asma met the University Management Committee after reporting for duty today.
