PENANG, 11 May 2016 - The USM Vice-Chancellor Professor Dato' Dr. Omar Osman congratulated Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed who has been appointed as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network) and Professor Dato' Dr. Muhamad Jantan in resuming his service as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation).

"The university is indebted to and conveys its utmost appreciation to the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network) Professor Dato' Dr. Susie See Ching Mey, who has contributed substantially in implementing the transformation towards consolidating the efforts of the industry and community network, including the realisation of global networks towards this effort," said Omar who is still on his official working visit to the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom.

He believed that the experiences that Susie See Ching Mey possesses could be benefitted continuously in assisting the university to face future challenges.

"I am also confident of Abdul Rahman’s wide experience in doing collaborations with the industry and community, which would assist him in continuing his work and commitment for the university all this while, at the same time being able to explore new opportunities by strengthening the involvement of the academia with the industry, and the ongoing relations between the industry and the university," added Omar.

He emphasised further, the continuation of service for Muhamad Jantan would allow him to resume his duties in Research and Innovation (R&I) which would benefit from his experience, networking and ideas in order for USM to face the future.
