EMPOWERING WORKFORCE EXCELLENCE; GSB USM CONTRIBUTES TO BMI WORKFORCE TALENT DEVELOPMENT
PENANG, 18 January 2024 - The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Graduate School of Business (GSB), through the Centre for Executive Education and Development (CEED), today hosted the Graduation Ceremony Professional Programme 2024 – B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. (BMI).
The ceremony marked the achievement of 50 BMI employees who have successfully completed academic courses at CEED GSB, USM. The courses were the Professional Certificates in Applied Operations and Management, and the Professional Advanced Certificates in Applied Operations and Management, with the advanced certificate programme spanning 6 months while the operator certificate programme lasting 4 months.
Among the distinguished attendees were the USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Industry and Community Network, Professor Dr. Azlan Amran; Senior Vice-President Operations and Head of Centre of Excellence IV Access, BMI, Christian Kapischke; and the Dean of GSB USM, Associate Professor Dr. Fathyah Hashim.
During her opening speech, Fathyah extended her congratulations to the graduates for their successful completion of the professional programme.
She emphasised the dynamic nature of the field of production, operations, and management, highlighting the need for individuals who not only understand their roles but also possess the ability to think creatively, generate innovative ideas, and make informed decisions in a rapidly changing environment.
“I believe that through this programme, the graduates have acquired all these abilities, and I am confident that you are ready for the next phase of your career,” said Fathyah, expressing her confidence in the graduates.
Fathyah also added by saying that GSB USM will continue to add value to BMI's manpower development objectives. She pledged ongoing collaboration with BMI's talent development team to offer a variety of professional development and executive development programmes, including professional certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s, and master’s programmes.
Meanwhile, Christian Kapischke in his address underlined BMI's dedication to providing opportunities for talent growth and development, emphasising the importance of enhancing both technical skills and personal development for BMI employees.
Highlighting the positive outcomes of the partnership with USM, Christian Kapischke commended the collaboration's impact on improving access to quality education and training.
"A skilled workforce is equipped with the skills needed to keep our economy growing,” he stressed.
He also concluded by expressing gratitude for the partnership with USM educators, noting that such collaborations are essential for accessing innovation hubs and expertise, emphasising the significance of building a pipeline of skilled employees tailored to meet specialised job demands, asserting that such outcomes are achievable only through robust partnerships.
The collaboration between both parties aligns seamlessly with their respective organizational goals, emphasizing sustainability for all (USM) and providing lifelong learning opportunities (BMI).
Also present were the Vice-President Legal and Compliance, Asia Pacific and Human Resources BMI, Khoo Bee Lin; Programme Manager, Executive Development GSB USM, Dr. Karpal Singh s/o Dara Singh; and the principal officers of BMI and USM.
