USM COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENTS SECURE FIRST PRIZE AWARD IN HUAWEI ICT COMPETITION - MALAYSIA NATIONAL LEVEL
KUALA LUMPUR, 26 December 2023 – Three students from the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) School of Computer Sciences recently pit their ICT skills and secured the First Prize award at the Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024, APAC-Malaysia, in the Cloud Track category.
The team which comprised of Final-Year students namely Cui Saifei, Wang Yan, and Chong Zhan Hang and accompanied by their USM Huawei Academy Instructor, Dr. Noor Farizah Ibrahim, clinched the First Prize.
Their achievement earned them a Huawei Matepad 11-inch Paper Matte Edition along with an accompanying certificate.
The award presentation ceremony took place on 18 December 2023 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in the Intermark KL.
The event garnered distinguished attendees including Huawei Malaysia HR Director, Choh Yau Meng; Director of Entrepreneurship & Student Development Centre (UKP) at Universiti Malaya, Dr. Muhamad Shakirin Mispan; Huawei Chief Strategy Officer, Shiming; Vice President of Huawei Asia-Pacific Strategy and Marketing, Zhang Fupeng; and Huawei Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications, Oliver Liu.
The Huawei ICT Competition, a globally recognized platform for the exchange of competitive ICT talent, has been instrumental in fostering global collaboration among university and college students.
With participation from over 120,000 students across 2,200+ institutions in 85 countries and regions, the competition plays a pivotal role in promoting the healthy growth of the ICT talent ecosystem and facilitating seamless integration between industry and education.
Themed "Connection, Glory, Future," the competition brought together governments, higher educational institutions, training organisations, and industry enterprises.
This collaborative effort aims to nurture, empower and provide employment opportunities for young ICT professionals from universities and colleges, contributing to the flourishing ICT talent ecosystem.
