GSB-KKBS INKS MoU TO ESTABLISH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
USM PENANG, 23 October 2023 - The Graduate School of Business (GSB) Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) today marks a significant milestone through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khon Kaen Business School (KKBS), Khon Kaen University.
The purpose of the MoU is to establish a collaborative partnership between the two institutions, focusing on enhancing research, education and training programmes that will encompass various areas, including;
- exchange of students and/or staff;
- joint academic programmes;
- joint research and development programmes;
- joint workshops and training programmes;
- exchange of publication; and
- any other academic linkages and cooperation that will be mutually identified and agreed by the parties from time to time.
Signing on behalf of USM was the USM GSB Dean, Associate Professor Dr. Fathyah Hashim and on behalf of KKBS was its Dean, Associate Professor Dr. Pensri Jaroenwanit.
In her welcoming remarks, Fathyah said that the signing of this MoU signifies a promising and fruitful partnership between the two institutions.
“The strategic location of both institutions which are closely linked to major industry players, present immense potential for reciprocal learning, knowledge exchange, and regional business impact,” said Fathyah.
She added that, by working closely with Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), both GSB and KKBS will continuously strive to remain at the forefront of business and management research and education.
Meanwhile, Pensri in her speech said that this MoU serves as a foundation for academic collaboration and paves the way for more comprehensive discussions regarding the scope of their academic link and cooperation.
“I am confident that the joint efforts and dedication of both institutions will build a stronger partnership that will contribute to a brighter future for both USM GSB and KKBS in the years ahead,” said Pensri.
Following that, the ceremony was then continued with a sharing session on AACSB Accreditation, where insights and experiences were shared by a GSB Senior Lecturer, who is also the Programme Manager (Quality and Accreditation), Dr. Kavigtha Mohan Kumar.
Also present were the USM GSB Deputy Dean of Academic, Career and International, Dr. Zurina Mohaidin; KKBS Assistant Dean for International and Communication Affairs, Associate Professor D. Ploypailin Kijkasiwat; USM GSB Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation and Industry Community Engagement, Dr. Christopher Richardson and USM GSB academicians.
