USM-JICA PARTNERSHIP: ADVANCING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
USM PENANG, 18 October 2023 - The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed, was honoured to receive a courtesy visit today from representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at his office, located at the Chancellory Building in USM.
The purpose of the visit was to engage in discussions regarding the Science and Technology Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS-OPT), particularly focusing on research concerning oil palm trunk conducted in collaboration between USM and JICA.
Additionally, talks were also held regarding the ASEAN University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (AUN/SEED-Net).
During the meeting, Sugawara Minako, Chief Representative of JICA Malaysia, expressed sincere appreciation for the existing collaboration between USM and JICA. She expressed hope for even more fruitful collaborations with USM in the future.
Following that, Abdul Rahman is also extending an opportunity to explore more future cooperation in research and innovation between both parties.
Also present were the JICA Malaysia Office, Coordinator of Volunteer Programme, Ohi Toshiaki and Project Coordinator, Ota Kazuhisa.
