BELAGAVI, KARNATAKA, 16 August 2023 - The Academy of Family Physicians of India (AFPI), Karnataka chapter and Department of Family Medicine USMKLE-IMP Belagavi jointly hosted the 4th state-level conference in family medicine (AFPICON 2023) on 5th and 6th August 2023 in KLE’s Centenary Convention Centre in Belagavi.

AFPICON 2023 was attended by over 200 delegates who had travelled from different parts of India to be part of this conference.

Air Vice Marshal (Dr), Sadhana S. Nair was the chief guest. AFPI National President, Dr. Raman Kumar, presided over the function. Director of USMKLE IMP Belagavi, Dr. H B Rajasekhar was the guest of honour.

AFPI National Vice President, Dr. Mohan Kubendra; AFPI Karnataka State President, Dr. Ramakrishna Prasad and State General Secretary, Dr. Harshpriya J were also present at the conference.

Topics presented at the conference were relevant to the field of primary care. Apart from presentations by various speakers, a workshop on diabetic foot care and panel discussion on different models of primary care clinic and medico legal considerations in general practice were also held.

The delegates consisted of practicing family physicians, postgraduates in family medicine and community medicine, and medical students.

The local Organising Committee, consisted of the Organising Chairperson, Dr. Geeta Pangi; Organising Secretary, Dr. Smruti Haval; Organising Treasurer, Dr. Virendra Ashtagi; Scientific Committee Chairperson, Dr. Shashikala Pangi; Scientific Coordinators, Dr. Savita Ramankatti and Dr. Twinkle Behl; and Hospitality Committee Heads, Dr. Sudhir Kamat and Dr. Imran Jagadal, strived hard for the success of this conference.

All those who participated had a fruitful and memorable time at the conference in Belagavi.
