The theme of this year’s Coffee Hour Day is ‘Y2K: Celebrate the Cultural Art of Early 2000’. It’s about stepping back into the early 2000s and reliving the childhood of those who were there then.

Whether you're interested in bling fashion, Pokemon Games or even skateboarding, look no further as CHD2023 will be diving into the Y2K world to enjoy these activities once again. Special performances that bring out the Y2K time zone will be performed throughout the event, so stay aware and enjoy while you’re there.

Details of the event are as follows:

  • Date: 7 June 2023 (Wednesday)
  • Time: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m.
  • Venue: Dataran Merah, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Main Campus
  • Fee: Free Admission

Promoting “Internationalisation at Home”, the event is aimed at bridging the gap between international and local students together, as many international students will be coming together.

“The 3rd Coffee Hour Day 2023” will serve as a platform to showcase the different cultures and languages from different parts of the world.

Be ready to 'travel around the world' by visiting country-specific booths erected by the international students of USM. A special passport will be given to you to collect stamps as you move from one booth to another. Collect a set number of stamps to be able to receive MYCSD points.

Each booth has something new and different to offer. As the main focus of Coffee Hour Day is to enhance the knowledge of languages, keep an open mind to learn and also speak different languages on that particular day.

This will be a good opportunity for students to interact and create new connections with peers from different countries as well as different backgrounds.

This is also a form of passive learning to enhance soft skills, which would be beneficial to students in the future as they will already have some experience interacting with international students.

It will be a good opportunity for students to move out of their classroom setting to experience and create memorable moments within the communities at Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Looking forward to see everyone there! Thank you and see you all at the 3rd Coffee Hour Day 2023!
