USM PENANG, 1 May 2023 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed today extends Labour Day wishes to the whole USM community.

"I wish for all USM community members and those who are still in their Hari Raya break in the month of Syawal to be in their best of health and wellbeing," he said.

He added that, we need to always be grateful with the blessings that we have received and to continue in raising our productive efforts as we strive to achieve excellence for the university.

"As we are a university upholding the APEX status, we need to look at more improved work processes that would suit the current times and situations, as well as in gearing for the future to ensure a holistic development of the institution.

"In order to be the best institution, we need to be and to have the best individuals in all areas," he emphasised.

He continued, with the theme ‘Pekerja Pemangkin Wadah Malaysia Madani’ or 'Workers as Agents of Catalyst for Malaysia Madani' to celebrate Labour Day 2023, the USM community needs to refocus their determination to raise their standards and quality of work.

Abdul Rahman also reminded all USM community members to raise the standards in the context of working as a team so as to achieve excellence for the University and in facing upcoming challenges.

“The current success achieved by USM is also the result of combined efforts and contributions of all USM community members, in their commitment to their tasks and towards the work culture currently practised.

“Allow me to extend again 'Happy Labour Day' wishes to everyone and to pray for the whole USM community to always be well throughout this festive season,” he said.
