PERKOM HELD FOOD DISTRIBUTION ACTIVITY TO EASE BURDEN OF FELLOW B40 STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY
USM PENANG, 29 March 2023 - Persatuan Komunikasi (PERKOM) or Communication Society, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) recently organised the ‘Distribution of ‘Bubur Lambuk’ Programme’ among the USM students, more specifically for students from the School of Communication, USM.
Led by PERKOM President, Nurul Syazwina Adlina Mohd Sirat, the objective of the programme is to help the B40 students, especially those who are facing financial problems in breaking their fast during the month of Ramadan, whereby ‘bubur lambuk’ which is a traditionally-prepared, lightly-spiced rice porridge is the preferred main menu throughout this holy month.
The programme aimed to contribute to the underprivileged students, where the programme also served as a PERKOM charity activity.
A total of 50 packs of ‘bubur lambuk’ were prepared by volunteers from PERKOM, which were then distributed to students at the ‘Balai Media’, School of Communication, USM.
According to Nurul Syazwina Adlina, the programme is one of the ways to help students, as a gesture in making a positive contribution to society and she hoped that this programme could ease the burden of the underprivileged students.
The overall programme was a success to the USM students and community.
It is hoped that this programme would continue in upcoming years to help more students who are in need or facing daily struggles.
