‘KAMI PRIHATIN (KAMPRI)’ PROGRAMME ASSISTS B40 STUDENTS WITH COMMUNICATION SKILLS
USM PENANG, 4 March 2023 – More than 500 B40 students from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) have benefitted from the ‘Kami Prihatin (KAMPRI)’ or ‘We Care’ programme, organised by volunteers together with the USM Student Development Affairs and Alumni Division (BHEPA) since it began in 2015.
Calvin Choong Hoon Guan, a volunteer from the private sector who founded and coordinated the programme, known as ‘Campus Life Coaching’ said, the programme was aimed at assisting students to attain their self-potential in life and career in the future.
"More than 30 of my friends and I, who are certified coaches from various local and international industries and multi-national companies (MNC) like Intel, Motorola, KeySight, and First Solar among others, would every year meet 1,000 students in the B40 group, who were then chosen to attend this programme for 2 semesters, either through weekly in-person or online sessions," he explained.
He further said that, these coaches include retirees and those with extensive professional experience locally or from abroad, who would volunteer together to assist the students to pursue their life-long dreams.
"English Language instructors assisted the students to communicate well to deal with the business world in the future," said Calvin Choong.
In the previous semester, 120 students were selected to attend this programme.
