USM PENANG, 28 July 2022 – Dean of the Graduate School of Business (GSB) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Professor Dr. Azlan Amran, 50, has been appointed by the world-renowned business school accreditation body, 'The Association of Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business' (AACSB) based in Tampa, Florida, United States of America, as a member of its Board of Directors.

The appointment takes effect beginning 1 July 2022 until 30 June 2025.

"This is truly an honour and an acknowledgement for USM to be accorded the opportunity to present views and reports along with other reputable members from the academics and businesses the world over," said Azlan.

According to a statement from AACSB, the appointment would allow Azlan to offer them a wider perspective on the area of business studies.

"This gives us much broader perspectives. The Board helps set the strategic direction for the organisation," the statement said.

Added AACSB further, in serving as a member of the Board of Directors, Azlan's role will be to provide advice, guidance, suggestions for improvements and a lens into the current state and future of business education.

They further stressed that, "while we absolutely want to hear about business education in your region, each director represents business education as a whole and not their particular school."
