USM PENANG, 5 July 2022 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Student Development Affairs and Alumni Division (BHEPA) is deploying student volunteers to assist flood victims in Baling, Kedah.

"We are mobilising volunteers and finding out more about those who were affected by the flash flood, especially among the students and university community,' explained Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Development Affairs and Alumni), Professor Dr. Azlinda Azman.

According to Azlinda, student volunteers are also carrying out a donation drive to be channelled to the flood victims.

 

The donation drive is done by the USM Volunteers’ Secretariat together with the ‘Kumpulan Anak-Anak Kedah, Universiti Sains Malaysia’ (KAKUSMA) student society.

Hundreds of residents in several villages had to be evacuated to relief centres after more than 80 houses were affected by the floods caused by continuous rain that hit the Baling district since yesterday.
