NEW ZEALAND HIGH COMMISSIONER PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO USM DVC A&I TO DISCUSS ON FUTURE PARTNERSHIP AND ACADEMIC COLLABORATION
USM PENANG, 28 June 2022 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and International, Professor Dato’ Gs. Dr. Narimah Samat today received a courtesy visit from the New Zealand High Commissioner to Malaysia, Her Excellency Pam Dunn at the Chancellory Conference Room, Chancellory Building in USM.
The aim of the visit is to provide insights into the collaboration with USM in academic fields such as online short courses and the Erasmus Plus Grant, mobility programmes (exchange students and academic staff) and other possible joint programmes connecting both New Zealand and Malaysia.
Narimah was happy to welcome Her Excellency and to receive the courtesy visit and the short discussion between both parties was very fruitful.
During the meeting, Narimah gave a brief introduction regarding the university profile, background, achievements and facilities provided in USM.
Meanwhile, the Director of USM International Mobility and Collaboration Centre (IMCC), Aizat Hisham Ahmad gave an overview to Her Excellency on how USM can work closely with New Zealand, in relation to education which involves the mobility programme and the new Colombo Plan that can be the best stepping stone in connecting New Zealand to Malaysia.
Following that, H.E. Pam is also extending an opportunity to explore more future cooperation in education between New Zealand and USM.
H.E. Pam hopes that this cooperation will further strengthen the bilateral relation between USM and New Zealand.
Also present were the Policy and Public Affairs Advisor, Zhong Yan Tan; Regional Director, Asia (Excluding China), Ben Burrowes; Portfolio Director, Desiree Lee; Acting Market Manager, Indonesia and Malaysia Education New Zealand, Naluri Bella Wati; and the Dean, School of Computer Sciences, Professor Dato’ Dr. Bahari Belaton.
