BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ANOTHER ROUND OF “LIFE AND MIDLIFE PROGRAMME”
PENANG, 22 June 2022 – In 2021, the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) HEBAT Development Centre (HDC) organised a programme called ‘LIFE’. It was a huge success even though it was held via an online platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recently, HDC organised another ‘LIFE’ workshop to look into the organisation of another round of such a programme soon.
It will now come with an all-new format, with new and exciting ideas and more elements added. The aim is to give the best of experiential learning to all upcoming participants – the new USM students for the coming 2022/23 academic intake.
The aim of the LIFE programme is to boost the potential of USM students to be ahead of the crowd, by having key knowledge and networking skills, and obtaining opportunities with the industry, community and government sectors.
This year too, HDC has introduced another new programme called ‘MidLIFE’, which targets USM students who are in Year-2 and Year-3 of studies.
During this workshop, HDC has prepared a strong team and coordinators for the LIFE and MidLIFE 2022 programmes. They have gathered to create, revise and enhance the key contents, engagement, assessment and industry-involvement elements of the programmes.
This year’s workshop was also preparing on the possibility of up-scaling LIFE and MidLIFE to thousands of USM students in the near future. Thus, the workshop was also attended by representatives from key USM departments like BHEPA, MPRC, CGSS, Ko-K, BJIM and so forth.
The workshop sessions, which were held from 21 - 24 June 2022, involved 57 key USM people, comprising of 10 members of the organising committee, 13 LIFE coordinators, 27 MidLIFE coordinators and 7 strategisers.
The closing and summary session was attended by the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Development Affairs & Alumni.
