USM PENANG, 7 April 2022 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) 59th Convocation Ceremony for the Second (S2) Session until the Twelfth (S12) Session will begin from 21 May until 31 May 2022 at the USM Dewan Tuanku Syed Putra (DTSP) in USM main campus here.

The 59th Convocation Ceremony will witness a total of 6,706 graduands receiving their scrolls, consisting of Postgraduates (PhD and Master’s - 2,231), Undergraduates (4,425) and Diploma of Nursing (50).

Among those honoured in S2 will be an Honorary Degree recipient, three Emeritus Professor recipients, two Emerita Professor recipients and a recipient of the Chancellor’s Gold Medal.

All eleven sessions will be chaired by the USM Pro-Chancellors - Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Zulkefli A. Hassan, Tan Sri Datuk Mustafa Mansur and Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. M. Jegathesan.

For S2 until S12 at DTSP, the awarding of degrees will be conducted in one session for each day, with full compliance to the existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The date of collecting the convocation robe in conjunction with the 59th USM Convocation Ceremony will take place on 12 May 2022 - 17 May 2022 from 9:00am - 4:00pm at Dewan Tuanku Syed Putra Hall Foyer. For further information, you can visit the konvo.usm.my website.

Each graduand is allowed to bring two guests (parents), but they are not allowed to enter the DTSP. Guests of the graduands can follow and watch the convocation ceremony session (live streaming) in the designated lecture halls.
