PENANG, 15 March 2022 – The School of the Arts (PPS) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) held its annual Rintis Arts Showcase from 17 February 2022 until 21 February 2022.
This year, RINTIS is collaborating with students from the Design Department of School of The Arts: Graphic Communication, New Media Design and Technology, and Product Design. This time around, the Rintis Arts Showcase brings the theme of #JALINAN.
They are showcasing final-year Arts students' projects with various design & art spectrums from creative digital branding and marketing, visual communication, creative thinking, health apps, design thinking, agronomic furniture and creative coding.
This exhibition was held in a hybrid manner through offline platforms and an online RINTIS official website, alongside social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, due to the unexpected rise of COVID-19 cases.
The RINTIS exhibition has also decided to proceed with the online resources, the official RINTIS website and social media platform. RINTIS actually refers to 'Research Innovation Towards Integration and Sustainability.'
This year’s Advisor is Ts. Dr. Nurul Hanim Md Romainoor. Despite the unexpected rise of COVID-19 cases, she believes that technology and creativity in the studio is a great way to get students to think critically and solve problems.
“New technology gives students a new way to learn, create and design creative innovation," said Student Director Syed Azreezal Mufazzal, was led the team with a vision to connect art and technology and hope to build a better society, using the motto "Entwine, Connect and Healing.”
RINTIS believes in the university's efforts to produce students who meet the principles of HEBAT, by encouraging students to move forward and engage in programmes such as this. The HEBAT principles initiated by USM aim to produce graduates who embrace the ideals of being Holistic, Entrepreneurial, Balanced, Articulation, and Thinking.
The goal of RINTIS 2022 is to pioneer the experiment of assimilation with the virtual world. The committee curated a list of panel who presented talks highlighting arts that connect the real world with the virtual world in aligning with the goal.
