THREE USM STUDENTS SELECTED TO REPRESENT MALAYSIA IN JUDO AT 2022 SEA GAMES
USM PENANG, 20 January 2022 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has recently shown that its students are capable of scaling the highest peak at the international level.
Three USM Judo proponents, through the Warga Sukan Channel, have successfully made it through the Selection Championship for the SEA Games and they will represent Malaysia at the games that will take place in May 2022 in Vietnam.
The USM Warga Sukan Channel is an Alternative Channel for admission to USM through the Lifelong Education Programme.
The recruitment of students under the Lifelong Education Programme aims to provide opportunities for individuals who want to continue acquiring knowledge and realizing the dream of obtaining a Bachelor's degree, as well as to raise the quality of self-development through education and to increase the intellectual level among Malaysians.
The 'chosen ones' are athletes Kamini Sri a/p Segaran from the School of Management (SOM), Year 3 for the 57kg category; Ummi Nazeerah Amran from the School of Housing, Building & Planning (HBP), Year 2 for the 45kg category; and Chuah Siew Imm from the School of Biological Sciences, Year 2 for the 'Katame No Kata' category with Ummi.
USM congratulates them on this sweet success and hopes that the three of them can continue their efforts to elevate the USM name at the top of the world.
The 31st edition of the SEA Games in Vietnam was originally scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 2, 2021 but was postponed to May 12 to 23, 2022 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
