PARALYMPICS: 'ALL THE BEST', USM WISHES MALAYSIA'S TOKYO-BOUND PARA ATHLETES
USM PENANG, 22 August 2021 -- Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) wishes Malaysia’s Tokyo-bound para athletes every success and also urges them to do their best and continue to fly the Jalur Gemilang high at the upcoming Paralympic Games from 24 August to 5 September 2021 in Tokyo.
USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Faisal Rafiq Mahamd Adikan congratulated the athletes on being selected to represent the nation, to give their very best to win, and to make Malaysians proud and inspire the next generation of athletes with disabilities.
“On behalf of the University, we wish the Malaysian contingent a great Paralympics campaign!,” he added.
Malaysia will be represented by 22 para athletes in nine competitive sports, namely athletics, cycling, swimming, archery, badminton, ‘Boccia’, powerlifting, table tennis and wheelchair tennis at the Paralympics.
They won three gold medals and a bronze through athletics in the 2016 Rio Paralympics which was the country’s best performance since 1972.
For this edition, it was reported that the national contingent are targeting to bring back three gold medals.
