SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FOR ENGINEERING CAMPUS, EXPRESSES USM LGU CHAIRMAN
NIBONG TEBAL, 18 July 2020 – The Chairman of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Board of Governors (LGU), Dato’ Dr. Awang Adek Hussin wishes to see the USM Engineering Campus continue to develop in the future and at the same maintaining its ‘green’ trademark.
Awang said this during his visit to the campus recently. It was his first visit after being appointed as the Chairman on 8 June 2020.
He spent half of the day listening to briefings and exchanging viewpoints with Heads of Department on campus matters, headed by the Engineering Campus Director, Professor Dr. Nor Azazi Zakaria.
Awang, who graduated from Drew University in New Jersey, USA also expressed his hope of seeing more international students pursuing their studies further in Engineering at USM.
He said that, the matter needed greater consideration as the campus is well-known for its high level of expertise, in addition to having a few Centres of Excellence (CoE) and research centres which could be utilised in attracting more international students.
Aside from that, Awang added that the increase in the number of students and development exercises will directly raise the image of USM further, locally and abroad in the future.
The USM Engineering Campus was established in 1984. From 1986-2001, it was located in Seri Iskandar, Perak. The campus was then shifted to its current location in Transkrian (Nibong Tebal), which is approximately 45 minutes away from the USM Main Campus.
