USM INTRODUCES A DEDICATED COVID-19 WEBSITE
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is presenting unexpected and extreme challenges for organizations of all sizes and sectors across the world. Institutions of higher learning such as Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) are not spared either.
In order to provide authoritative, authentic and trustworthy as well as the most recent information to our stakeholders, USM introduces a dedicated COVID-19 website, which is a voluntary effort from its staff.
The idea of putting everything on COVID-19 including announcements, what-to-do and how to guides, basic hygiene materials, facts about COVID-19 and so forth came about from the ideas and initiatives of three staff, Noridzwan Baser (Centre for Knowledge, Communication & Technology, PPKT), Ebrahim Abdul Manan and Muhammad Indera Azhar@Ishak (both from Media & Public Relations Centre, MPRC) after realising not many other universities are doing so.
According to Noridzwan, fondly known as Iwan, the website which acts as a resource centre would be beneficial to both students and staff as it serves as a pivotal point of reference during a pandemic crisis like this.
The website was made online on 16 March 2020 and has since gained over 9,000++ visitors from all over the world to get the latest updates by the University while at the same time make recommendations as to how USM can navigate through this challenging period in a more efficient manner.
