Apart from the six gold haul, USM also took home five silver and three bronze medals, simultaneously maintaining the university’s 100% achievement record on overall medal wins.

Director of the USM Innovation Office, Professor Dr. Hanafi Ismail who heads the USM research delegation to MTE 2019 said, USM continues its tradition of excellence by winning medals for all the 14 research products participating in the competition.

"In this edition, we were truly thrilled in seeing the excellent achievements of the female USM researchers, who have clinched five out of the six gold medals won.

"This reflects the standard of their research products, which are on par with those of the international researchers as the participation in MTE does not only come from local research and educational institutions, but also from those abroad from 18 countries such as Croatia, Poland, the United States of America, Iran, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and others," he said.

He also said, out of the 14 products competed, two have undergone the commercialisation phase and received grants from industrial partners, while awaiting the licensing and other related processes," he said.

Themed “Asia’s Inventions and Innovations Marketplace”, MTE 2019 provides a one-stop platform for inventors, designers and entrepreneurs to showcase their latest inventions, ideas, prototypes, products and designs to investors, manufacturers, distributors and marketers in Asia and beyond, paving the way to connect them with those who are seeking new ideas, as well as technological commercialisation and collaboration.
