USM ROVER SCOUTS PARTICIPATED IN MERDEKA WALK AND CLEAN UP DAY AT THE PENANG NATIONAL PARK
TELUK BAHANG, 22 Sept. 2018 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia Rovers Scouts Group (KLKM USM) recently took part in the Merdeka Walk and Clean-Up Day, held at the Penang National Park.
The invitation to join the programme was extended by the Malaysia Scouts Federation Penang, Balik Pulau District (PPMBP).
As part of a networking programme, 44 members of KLKM USM were selected as facilitators to the participants involved, altogether totalling 557.
Members of KLKM USM who served as facilitators were tasked with 7 groups, which were required to go through seven designated Checkpoints, along the route beginning from Dataran Teluk Bahang until the Centre for Marine and Coastal studies (CEMACS) USM.
In the previous year, the KLKM USM Rover Scouts have been given the highest recognition in the Scouts Movement which is the Baden Powell Award (B-P Award), in conjunction with the Fourth Annual Baden-Powell Drill and Inspection Ceremony 2017.
The award, which was introduced by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement and which is recognised all over the world, takes its name from Lord Baden Powell, who founded the World Scouts Movement in 1901.
