KUALA LUMPUR, 13 Sept. 2018 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) scored big recently by obtaining 5 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze medals at the International University Carnival on E-Learning (IUCEL) 2018 competition.

The medal recipients were:

Gold:
Dr. Jamalsafri Saibon (School of Educational Studies)
Dr. Mohd Salman Abu Mansor (School of Mechanical Engineering)
Associate Professor Dr. Wan Ahmad Jaafar Wan Yahaya (Centre for Instructional Technology and Multimedia, PTPM)
Dr. Mariam Mohamad (Centre for Instructional Technology and Multimedia, PTPM)
Dr. Chau Kien Tsong (Centre for Instructional Technology and Multimedia, PTPM)

Silver:
Dr. Hadzliana Zainal (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Dr. Chan Siok Yee (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Dr. Amirah Mohd Gazzali (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences)

Bronze:
Dr. Goh Choon Fu (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Dr. Thaigarajan Parumasivam (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Dr. Siti Maisharah Ghazi (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences)
 
The Centre for Instructional Technology and Multimedia (PTPM) were the highest achievers when all three staff members who participated in the competition won a Gold medal each.

This is a great success for them, said its Director, Associate Professor Dr. Wan Ahmad Jaafar Wan Yahaya who also won a Gold medal.

All expenses of the participating lecturers are borne by the Centre for Development of Academic Excellence & Student Development (CDAE) and PTPM.

IUCEL 2018 is organised by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), in collaboration with the Malaysia E-Learning Council for Public Universities (MEIPTA) and the Malaysian Ministry of Education.

IUCEL is a platform to promote, explore, and share the best practices and global expertise in E-learning applications at all levels in higher learning institutions from around the world.

There will be many upcoming activities in the field waiting for innovators to present new ideas, such as exhibitions on e-learning technology, best practices and product updates, including software, courseware and e-learning management system (LMS).
