BRITISH COUNCIL KEEN TO WORK WITH USM
USM, PENANG, August 2018 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail recently welcomed a courtesy visit from representatives of the British Council at her office here.
The British Council representatives, Head of Education Services (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia Hub), Jennifer Wan and Director of British Council Penang, Peggy Lim conveyed their intention to look into potential areas of interest where British Council can work together with USM in the future.
Among the issues discussed in length were the potential collaboration with British universities regarding short-term student mobility and exchange programmes in advancing the university internationalisation strategies, and on how to produce more proficient learners of the English language among the graduates and the younger generation.
Accompanying the Vice-Chancellor in the discussion were the Director of USM International Mobility and Collaboration Centre (IMCC), Dr. Muhizam Mustafa; Senior Deputy Registrar, USM Academic Management Division, Noriah Mohamad and representatives from the USM School of Languages, Literacies and Translation.
The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation which provides international opportunities between people in the UK and other countries, while fostering cultural relations with nations worldwide. Founded in 1934, currently it has over 7,000 staff working in 191 offices in 110 countries and territories.
