KUALA LUMPUR, 29 June 2018 – For those who could recall, on 14 September 2017, at around 5:10 am, a fire broke out at the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah madrasa in Kampung Datuk Keramat, Kuala Lumpur. 23 residents at the madrasa perished, with five others suffered injuries.

Yesterday, the 2016/2017 USM Students’ Representative Council (MPP), with their dedication and sense of responsibility, have come forward with donations collected to sponsor over 70 ‘Tahfiz’ pupils at the madrasa.

The MPP Secretary, Farah Aniis Azeera Azeman thanked everyone involved, all the USM students and staff, from the bottom of her heart in supporting this initiative.

"The event which happened last year was truly tragic, and which had impacted so many.”

"I’m truly blessed to be with them yesterday and listening to their stories, and as they undergo all the trials, disappointments and trauma, God has made a way for them to be together again. Alhamdulillah, it’s good to know that now they’re happy at their new home," she said.

Furthermore, her thoughts are with those affected and her condolences to all. God willing, those who were guilty in causing the tragedy will be brought to justice.

Also present were the 2016/2017 USM Students’ Representative Council President, Mohd Hazim Abdul Manaf and Working Secretary, Izuan Baharin.
