KUALA LUMPUR, 2 May 2013 - A total of 15 medical books, published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) in collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), were launched by an ophthalmologist and nationally popular motivational expert, Prof. Dr. Muhaya Hj Mohamad.

The Medical Book Series Launch took place for the second time in conjunction with the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair held at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, recently.

USM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Omar Osman thanked and expressed appreciation to DBP for continuing to work with USM lecturers in publishing medical books in Bahasa Malaysia that can be understood by all ages and races.

“Efforts like this should continue so as to share the knowledge available. However, the challenge is to encourage the community to take advantage of what has been produced, as well as to promote knowledge and encourage a reading culture within the community,” said Omar.

Among the books launched were Kepala Pusing: Memahami Vertigo; 100 Persoalan Mengenai Mata dan Katarak; Merokok: Selangkah ke Alam Kubur; and Andropaus: Kenyataan dan Harapan. All of these books were written by lecturers from the School of Health Sciences and School of Medical Sciences, Health Campus, Kelantan.
