FIVE USM ACADEMICS HEADING TO GERMANY FOR LINDAU NOBEL LAUREATE MEETING
PENANG, 26 March 2018 – Five young and aspiring academicians from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) have been honoured with an invitation to participate in the upcoming 68th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting from 24-29 June 2018 in Lindau, Germany.
The five USM lecturers are:
- Dr. Mohd Ghows Mohd Azzam, School of Biological Sciences
- Dr. Chan Siok Yee, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Dr. Yap Beow Keat, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Dr. Nur Aizati Athirah Daud, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Dr. Tan Suat Cheng, School of Health Sciences.
For the record, five out of six representatives from Malaysia selected to attend the Meeting come from USM, and this further shows that USM academicians are highly recognised internationally.
The annual event brings the next generation of science scholars to meet 42 Nobel Laureates to promote exchanges across generations, cultures and disciplines. Through dialogues, the Nobel Laureates would be able to initiate various interactions with the 600 selected and most qualified young scientists from all over the world.
The Meetings are jointly organised by two institutions, the Council and the Foundation, to ensure the continuity and development of such dialogues. The meetings have been organised since 1951 and continuing the tradition of its motto, to ‘Educate, Inspire, Connect’.
