USM AND UoS TO STRENGTHEN GLOBAL TIES IN RESEARCH AND ACADEMICS
SOUTHAMPTON, 20 November 2017 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and University of Southampton (UoS) have recently signed an agreement to continue collaborations together through the international platform.
Both parties have agreed to further strengthen current cooperation in research and other initiatives which can promote and enhance the impact and direction of the universities on civil society, knowledge creation and sustainability.
The agreement was signed here between the Vice-President of UoS, Professor Colin B. Grant and the USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Dato' Dr. Muhamad Jantan, representing the USM Vice-Chancellor.
Also present to witness the signing were USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah and UoS Pro Vice-Chancellor (International/Global Programmes), Professor Peter G.R. Smith.
According to Ahmad Farhan, the focus of the discussion between both universities was mainly on academic collaborations and general capacity-building efforts involving students and human resource with industries as well as government entities, statutory bodies and the private sector.
USM is regarded by UoS as a key Malaysian partner, as seen from the signing and in pursuing further collaborations and cooperation in the future.
