ANTI-ABUSE CAMPAIGN: PLEDGE MADE BY 400 USM STUDENTS
PENANG, 28 September 2017 - Approximately 400 students of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) gathered in a special event known as ‘No Silence No Violence 2.0’ project, aiming to cultivate concerns and thoughts on anti-abuse movements among the youth in Malaysia.
The initiatives are to instil awareness and being on the alert on all kinds of abuse that will harm their everyday life and the future, besides being a platform to reach the silent sufferers to come forward and speak up about the abuse that is happening around them.
The bold step towards preventing abuses in all sorts of forms were taken by the Kor Sukarelawan and Sekretariat Sukarelawan India USM, with the main objective to urge the people to come together, to be the voice for the voiceless, the power for the powerless and to give support to the victims.
Three panellists have also shared their thoughts with all participants in a special forum pertaining to the topic, which has raised a lot of students’ reaction, followed by the pledge and the bursting of balloons as a gesture to mark their support for the campaign.
