NURTURING FUTURE EXPERTS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR THE NATION
USM, PENANG, 13 May 2017 - The Society of Rising Individuals (SRI) in collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and the Association of Science, Technology and Innovation (ASTI), has organised the Penang Science Fair for Young Children 2017.
Among the objectives of this programme are to:
- create awareness on the importance of science and technology;
- develop the interest in science and technology among Tamil school students;
- align with the vision of the country in creating competitive individuals exhibiting excellence, competence and distinction; and
- enhance the importance of using the English language among Tamil school students.
The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, YB Senator Dato' Sri S.K. Devamany was the guest of honour who officiated the event.
Also present were the USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network), Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed; Founder of the Science Fair and President of ASTI, Dr. Yunus Yasin; and Project Director of Penang Science Fair for Young Children 2017 cum the Vice-President of Students Representative Council (MPP USM), Sutarsan Chandran.
27 teams from 22 Tamil schools in Penang participated in this 8th edition of the annual fair, showcasing their projects in science and technology.
