SCHOOL TEACHERS UNDERGO TRAINING AT USM FOR NEW COMPUTER SCIENCE CURRICULUM
PENANG, 2 May 2017 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) School of Computer Sciences has been appointed as instructors by MDEC (Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation) to provide training to school teachers in preparing them for the new computer science subject curriculum.
Selected secondary school teachers from the northern and eastern region of Malaysia will undergo the training for the ‘Certification Programme on Computational Thinking and Computer Science Teaching Certificate’, which has commenced from 10 April 2017 until 31 August 2017. The training is conducted daily from 9am-5pm.
The emphasis given in the training would be on the need for participants to practice computational thinking, while being able to collaborate and communicate creatively and effectively.
MDEC is a government agency established in 1996, to pioneer the transformation of the Malaysian digital economy. It oversees the development of the MSC Initiative while encouraging Malaysians and local digital businesses to embrace technology, and to support the overall growth of a strong and sustainable local digital ecosystem.
