HP GARAGE: USM EE STUDENT PROJECTS EXHIBITED AT HP MALAYSIA MANUFACTURING
On 16 March 2017, HP Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. has extended their invitation to the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (School EE), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) to exhibit student projects at their newly officiated HP Garage.
The HP Garage is a collaboration with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC), Collaborative Research in Engineering, Science and Technology (CREST), and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) with a purpose to inculcate among their engineers the spirit of Reinventing.
The HP Garage also provides a space for the local university to showcase their projects.
USM, in particular, School EE is the first Learning Institution given the honour to exhibit their Makers projects at HP Garage in conjunction with the HP Official Corporate Visit.
Under the coordination of Dr. Muhammad Nasiruddin Mahyuddin, three projects were selected to be showcased at HP Garage: Tan Kah Hooi’s Cooperative Humanoid Robots (under the advisory of Dr. Muhammad Nasiruddin Mahyuddin), Ng Mun Kit’s Assistive Robot for Surgery (under the advisory of Dr. Khairi Ishak) and Kua Lin Dun’s Portable 3D printer (under the advisory of Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Rizal Arshad).
The HP Learning and Development Manager, Subashini Kaur arranged the placement of the projects at HP garage and prepared the students for the exhibition.
The two senior top officials from HP US, Mr. Michael and Mr. Ashok, and the HP Malaysia Managing Director, Mr. Sunil Chandiramani were greeted with USM student’s project presentation and demonstration.
They were amazed by the capability and the competence exemplified by the USM’s School EE students. They were happy and looked forward for future prospective research collaboration between HP Malaysia and a top local research university like USM.
