KUSISDARI ON A MISSION EXPLORING UNIVERSITY OF HOKKAIDO
PENANG, March 2017 - Kumpulan Siswa-Siswi Darul Ridzuan (KUSISDARI), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) recently organised a trip to explore the University of Hokkaido (UH), Japan with the aim of getting the students group to share their knowledge and experiences at the global stage.
The Advisor of KUSISDARI, Associate Professor Dr. Wan Ahmad Jaafar Wan Yahaya said that the choice of UH was due to the already established working relationship and the reputation of UH as one of the best universities in Japan.
“This programme is aimed at providing global exposure to USM students as they hold discussions on the exchange of knowledge and ideas with the students from UH,” he added, who is also the Director, Centre for Instructional Technology and Multimedia (PTPM), USM.
“I hope that the students would benefit from this programme with the experience of being abroad, for them to become more positive and globalised as they open their minds and widen their thoughts,” said Wan Ahmad Jaafar.
The delegation comprising of 15 Executive Committee members of KUSISDARI for the 2016/2017 academic session also presented a 1Malaysia dance performance in full traditional costume together with the ‘silat’ art of self-defence.
Deputy Executive Director, UH Institute of International Collaborations, Professor So Kawanobe welcomed the plans by USM in the sharing of best practices from universities on the education system and also co-curricular activities which are conducted.
Hokkaido University, which was built in 1876, is one of the research universities in Japan, offering various academic programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, among which are Law, Economics, Medicine, Engineering and Dentistry.
