USM, PENANG, 6 March 2017 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail today received a courtesy visit from the delegation of Universitas Syiah Kuala (UNSYIAH), Indonesia which was led by its Rector, Professor Dr. Samsul Rizal.

In her welcoming speech, the Vice-Chancellor said that, USM is willing to establish cooperation with other universities in its effort towards internationalisation, to ensure that USM would remain relevant and competitive globally.

She further explained, relations between both universities could be enhanced through cooperation in various areas including research, academics and also student exchange.

Earlier, the UNSYIAH delegation held discussions with the USM Centre for Global Archaeological Research (CGAR) which was chaired by its Director, Professor Dato' Dr. Mohd Mokhtar Saidin.

Also present at the meeting were the USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dato' Dr. Ahmad Shukri Mustapa Kamal; Director of USM International Mobility and Career Centre (USM-IMCC), Dr. Muhizam Mustafa and the Director of USM Business Development Centre, Professor Datuk Dr. Abdul Khalil P. Shawkataly.
