PENANG, 1 March 2017 - The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) community would like to send a message of condolence to the family of the late Tan Sri Jins Shamsudin who has passed away yesterday evening at the age of 82.

The late Tan Sri was a highly-respectable artist and was also a recipient of the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters from USM in 1999.

His contribution to the university was through his insights and ideas in uplifting the standards of performing arts and culture; he was also instrumental in bringing the prestigious Malaysia Film Festival (FFM) to USM in 2006.

The late Tan Sri also directed the famed ‘Ali Setan’ film in the 80s, which was shot at USM.
