USM TO INTENSIFY COLLABORATION WITH UNIVERSITÉ DE LORRAINE
USM, PENANG, 17 January 2016 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Dato’ Dr. Muhamad Jantan is urging academicians from USM to intensify collaborations and partnerships with Université de Lorraine (UL) in France, covering various disciplines including research.
“USM and UL has been in collaboration for the past 18 years and numerous joint activities have been held, including the Erasmus Mundus programme, joint researches and staff/student academic exchange,” added Muhamad.
He stated this when officiating the 4th USM-UL Colloquium jointly-organised by USM and UL, which saw the attendance of more than 100 participants from both universities.
According to the UL Vice-President (Partnerships and International Affairs), Professor Karl Tombre many other areas of study could be explored together in the future and he welcomed greater forms of collaboration.
The colloquium is an annual event for both USM and UL and is alternately organised in Malaysia and France. The theme for this year's colloquium is “Life, Health and Environmental Sciences”.
Also present was the Dean, USM School of Chemical Sciences, Professor Dr. Afidah Abdul Rahim who was also the first candidate to graduate from the Co-Tutelle PhD Programme with UL and who also chairs the colloquium.
